The USS Josephus Daniels was commissioned on May 8, 1965 as DLG-27, a guilded missile frigate. She served during the Vietnam War in the Pacific theatre and was deployed numerous times to the Mediterranean and other areas from her home port in Norfolk, Virginia. She was finally scrapped in November, 1999.
